Protests at Universitate Square
It's hard for me to find words to describe the events that took place on 15 th of January 2012. What started as a peaceful protest turned into a full-out riot; people got injured, tear gas was used, cars and shops were destroyed.
A few things really stroke a chord while I was photographing the protest.
A old man was taking his two very young grandsons to the protest. The kids were shouting slogans that I'm pretty sure they fully understood.
Many parents came with their kids, knowing that this could turn violent just like it did the night before. I took this photo of some kids next to the statue in front of TNB and 20 minutes later tear gas was shot exactly in that direction.
